Hi I did some experimenting and got the same results you did.  The way I
was able to fix this was by the below method. Hope this will help you.
I had to enter it manually;
Go to your, C:\Documents and Settings\(your name)\Application Data\Freedom
Scientific\JAWS\8.0\Settings\enu.
Now find your  "Outlook Express.JDF" file in the enu folder.  Hit alt +
enter and make sure it is not set to read only.
Now hit the applications key and arrow up to open with and right arrow to
enter into it
If you have note pad there then enter on it, other wise enter on choose
program.
choose note pad and tab to Always use the selected program to open this
kind of file  and make sure it is not checked it this checkbox shows up, it
may or may not, then to ok.
After your "Outlook Express.JDF" file  opens in notepad then add the below
line, exactly as I have written here:
.=. .
now hit control to save it and alt + F4 to close.  Note you may or may not
have to restart JAWS to make the changes stick, (I did not have to)
Note you will not hear the symbol  = any longer in OE, so you might want to
try and use two = symbols back to back so you can still hear the = symbol
when reading by character or if there is only one = symbol and not a whole
row of them.  To do this enter the below line in instead into your "Outlook
Express.JDF"  exactly as written:

Hi list,
I get emails from weather underground. In each message up until tonight
there were three equals like this.=== before the beginning of the message.
Since I downloaded the latest jaws update, I hear = 9 times now. I tried
replacing it in the jaws dictionary with a space, but nothing works. How
can
I stop that many = in the email? I am running jaws 8 with the latest update
and Windows XP Pro.
