ah yep, for your use I would see if you can find a micro wireless mouse with 
a dongle styled USB transceiver, it should turn the touchpad off 
automatically if the dongle is in it's socket, this way you can, if needed, 
just unplug it and va la, touch pad is ready to go again, smile.
