First your friend should go to the following website for tips on making
Avast more Jaws friendly.
http://www.accessible-devices.com/AvastAccessibility.html
To open the menue, either fetch it out of the system tray with insert F11 or
activate it from the programs menue. Next enter on "start Avast." It will
run a short memory test that only demands a bit of patience.
On the next menu, it is possible to check boxes on what one wants tested. I
usually check hard disks.
Tab down to a slider to determine the thoroughness of the scan, zero being
the least and 100 most.
Tab down to start scan button and hit the space bar on that. Now all it
takes is more patience.
