I don't know about WinZip 11, but I do know that both 8 and 9 were or in my
case are, totally accessible, and the reason for getting it is dependant on
your needs, if you just want to zip and unzip files or folders then no, use the
windows zip feature, it will do basic zipping, it will allow you to put on a
password on the file, and it will allow you to delete a file from a group of
zipped files, but that seems to be about all. I saw one option where you may
be able to change settings on it, but didn't want to dig through the whole
thing.
what it doesn't have is the ability to simply add one file to a zip folder, to
generate a self extracting installer file, to be upgraded to be able to
generate commercial or professional installers, to select the density, and I
didn't see a place to select, easily the type of zip file one was creating.
where as WinZip gives you all these variables.
There is a free zip application on www.jfwlite.com/programs
that is to me... a bit more troublesome than WinZip to use, but it does even
more types of files, and most of the above mentioned items, I don't remember if
it does its own self extracting files, but since its free one might check it
out.
regards,
inthane

Hello
I have not made a decision on the subject. I am trying to learn if there are
benefits to getting the Winzip program because MS knows that there is already a
zip function in their program. I want to know if there is a reason to get
Winzip and if the program is accessible.

Hi there! Are you using Windows XP? Zip file functionality is already
there. I have had no problems with it regarding Zip files. Why do you want to
get Winzip?At 09:27 PM 8/29/2007 -0500, you wrote:
