Hi, Discovered the problem was that the colour was set to 32 bit.  Thanks.

Just tested it using MS Word 2003, and Jaws 8, and mine works fine.
 
I even tried testing the 'advanced selection' mode using the F8 key to
toggle it on etc., and whatever I do, if I hit shift +jaws key + numpad
down, it tells me what's selected, as well as mentioning it as I select it.
