We used the Norton removal tools first, and the laptop where I was having
the problem did not even have Norton Backup and Restore on it yet, it has
word books and some excel files with doctor names and specialty and that is
it, stuff I can't get on the work computer due to network restrictions. I
don't use it for much more than looking things up and tracking minutes typed
each day so am not overly concerned about its backup at this point, although
I should be!

Rose,
Another thing to consider is that not all of Norton's product was removed
from your system. It is normally good to have more than one spyware
detection and removal program on your system but only one antivirus program.
Here is a link to Norton's removal tools. You can pick your product from a
list on the web page and then choose the download link on the following
page. The link is:
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039
If you decide to install AVG Antivirus then you will want to be sure to have
all of Norton's protection removed and also use the add/remove programs to
remove the Micro Trend. Consider using AVG Antivirus and Spybot Search and
Destroy 1.5. Again, depending on your setup you might need a firewall as
well. These are suggestions for if you want to use free programs.
