[JAWSLite] Re: Silent Desktop

For interests sake, if you use Windows Explorer (Windows key + E) to browse to C:\Documents and settings\username\desktop (obviously replacing username with whatever is relevant), can you then see the icons?

The reason I ask is that if this problem is something more related to a windows problem there's normally a 'hidden' file called something like desktop.ini that is used to allocate display settings for a folder, and the desktop is just a different rendering of such a folder.

Just wondering if the problem that's 'hiding' the icons etc. would be carried over to when you browse that folder in Windows Explorer, or whether it's just rendering incorrectly on the actual desktop part of the interface?

Hi
I have tried installing the latest version twice with the same result.
The only things it seems to have trouble with are the desktop icons and
sometimes the list of messages in OE.

Sounds like jaws 8 is not intercepting the video properly.

You might have to uninstall jaws 8 and reinstall if you can't get jaws to
intercept the video.

Also you have not made any changes to your display setting have you?

 Just some thoughts...

 Subject: [JAWSLite] Silent Desktop

I seem to have lost the voice for the desktop icons. When I installed
the latest Jaws version, the desktop icons became silent. When I click
Windows+M,
it says WindowsM. After that it is silent as long as I am on the desktop.
To my knowledge, I haven't made any changes. Could someone please help?
Luckily
I can still use Jaws 7; however I would like to be able to use Jaws 8.
Any help would be appreciated.
 Marsha
