[JAWSLite] Silent Desktop

  I seem to have lost the voice for the desktop icons.  When I installed the 
latest Jaws version, the desktop icons became silent.  When I click 
Windows+M,
it says WindowsM.  After that it is silent as long as I am on the desktop. 
To my knowledge, I haven't made any changes.  Could someone please help? 
Luckily
I can still use Jaws 7;  however I would like to be able to use Jaws 8.  Any 
help would be appreciated.
