[JAWSLite] Office 2003 question

I wand if this is a Jaws bug or some kind of setting in Office 2003 but every time I open up a new document in word, I get the document number incremented to a higher number.  This happens even though I do not have any word documents open at the time.  I came in this morning and started my computer up and immediately upon opening up a word document, was told by Jaws that it was document four.  Now I’m up to document seven and I don’t have any other word documents open.  Any thoughts from any one.  Oh yes, I am using Windows XP and Jaws 8.0 with the latest update.
