[JAWSLite] Re: List of hotkeys in a dialogue box using Jaws

in add/remove I usually used the jaws cursor to "click the tab" or button whatever it is now, that's one area that MS really did us a disservice!

I think there is a jaws keystroke that reads out the items in a dialog and, I think... gives you the hot keys for them, I don't have my notes for it handy, but I got it out of the overall keystroke listings for jaws in the help menu. just like I found some specialty "mouse over" commands there.

Subject: [JAWSLite] List of hotkeys in a dialogue box using Jaws

Hi there.

A question on my part.

Basically when using certain programs, and a dialogue box pops up for whatever, where I know there certain controls that for some reason don't seem to be in the 'tab list', but which I am relatively certain have Alt + hotkeys assigned to them, I would like to be able to somehow obtain a list of the available hotkey combinations - preferably with the relevant description/label for that control.

A couple of examples are in the 'add/remove programs' dialogue which you get to from the control panel in windows xp. It has a button to allow you to add/remove windows components etc. which is accessed using Alt + W, but which you can't tab to.

The other one that now brought this up in my head is that in MS SQL server 2003, when I want to restore a backup of a database that I got from someone else, once I select the from filegroups or files option, I know there is a button which would allow me to select the relevant backup file(s), but which I can't right now remember the shortcut key for.

Anyway, do any of you guys know of some way to work around/access this sort of thing?

FWIW, am using Jaws 8/9 on a Windows XP Pro machine. Also, for some of these problems, things like NVDA work better since you can 'navigate' from parent-child-sibling object in these situations.

Thanks in advance
