Go into the tools menu and make sure that speech is not checked. Then
check in control panel and make sure that under speech nothing is checked.

        Hi,

        Two questions regarding Jaws.
        1. In some Windows programs like Outlook Express, Word, Excel, etc.,
Jaws says sometimes "microphone tool ...". How can I turn the microphone off
across all windows applications?

        2. When I do control+E in Outlook Express, Jaws says, "spell check,"
and then there is a long pause and it doesn't read as it usually does. The
spell check however works fine when I use the f7 key. But in Word, when I press
f7, there is a pause and the spell check doesn't work either. What's wrong with
my Jaws.

        Best,

        Lauren
