[JAWSLite] Re: Java and Windows XP OS

ok, if you run into java applications you need to try to use, you will need the java access bridge that Christopher gave you the URL to, you can also install the java runtime (JRE file) and it may assist with some things, the one provided with windows XP is a bit on the elderly side.

unless your thinking of working in/developing java applications yourself, you shouldn't need anything else, from my understanding.

if you do wish to develop java applications, you will need the other download Christopher gave you, and it would probably be easier for you to develop/write things either in the j creator, or eclipse IDE's.

if you do wish to do this, the link for the eclipse IDE is already on my grab bag site (see URL under my name below) and I can give you the link to the j creator page.

take care,

I don't recall any more where I got Java from, but after doing a search on Yahoo! the following URL looks like it would do the trick: http://www.java.com/en/download/windows_xpi.jsp?locale=en&host=www.java.com:80

You'll also need the Java Access Bridge. Another search on Yahoo! came up with the following: http://java.sun.com/products/accessbridge/

The only benefits I can think of would be if you're running any Java applications that would be accessible with the Java Access Bridge and JAWS. I use one at work, although it's still pretty much torture to use that application. Other programs like Open Office are Java applications, but even with the Java Access Bridge installed, I don't find it very useful.
