[JAWSLite] Re: JAWS and Word or just Word

I expect it's a hidden file. Do you have hidden files showing?

I think it will just fill it in again, but I'll try tonight when I have access
to Outlook. Does anyone know where those obsolete Outlook contacts are stored?
It seems like you could delete them manually. But, as I said, when I searched
for *.wab windows found nothing.

Try pressing the delete key when one of those pops up.

I'm having the same problem with Outlook 2002 remembering old addresses that
are not in my contacts. Soemeone said to go to the windows addressbook,
(*.wab) but a search yielded nothing. I don't really want to turn
auto-complete off in IE, but am frustrated by XP remembering old addresses that
I can't even locate.

  Hi Reid,

There's one more idea I have. Xp also has an autocomplete feature to help
with file searches, and this little item might be where the problem is.
  Check out
  http://www.andyrathbone.com/tips/autocomplete.html
and see if that's it. It repeats some of the things we've already discussed
like turning off the autocomplete things in IE, but it also talks about XP
  Search.

  Hi again Jean,

  I saw this discussion also.
I really don't want to go the "modify the registry" root.
It is a friend's computer that I'm working on.

  Thanks for your help.

Oh, one more thing. I saw discussions for modifying the registry to change
this behaviour, so you might want to check that out if you're comfortable
doing that. Microsoft has a topic on it if you search there.

  Good luck.

  Hi Jean and Chip,

In IE 7, I have all of these settings turned off.

The only place I have this issue is in Office applications; Outlook, Word
and Excel are the ones that I use.
This does not happen, for example, in WordPad or internet Explorer.

  Thanks.

In-line autocomplete is on the Advance tab in the Browse section in IE.under
Tools, Options. Oh, what a mixed up sentence. There are also autocomplete
settings under Tools, Options, on the Content tab. I don't know how they are
all connected, but I have all mine turned off and I don't have the problem
of autocomplete for filenames in Word. For what it's worth, there is an
autocomplete option in Excel, and I don't know if it's somehow connected or
  not.

It's actually a windows function, and windows will do it in the standard
file open dialogs used by any program.

I think you can turn it off (it would be for all programs) via an ie
"advanced" setting. These are the ones you reach via the tools |
options menu of ie, then you go to the right-most tab of "advanced"
setting, and you go down a long list of "checkible" list box options. I
think one of them controls autocomplete of addresses outside of ie.

I'm not sure where-else in windows you can get to this setting.
