[JAWSLite] Re: JAWS, MS Virtual Machine, and Ubuntu Linux with Orca

I can't answer all of your questions, but I use MS Virtual PC under
Windows XP Pro, and I run Windows Vista Ultimate in a virtual PC. I'm
running JFW on both systems.

It works well, although the virtual PC is a bit sluggish, and I had to
use the MS Virtual PC Extensions in Vista to get the performance from
unusable to sluggish. Of course, Linux will be a bit snappier, but you
won't have Virtual PC Extensions for Linux, so I'm not sure what kind of
performance you'll see.

When I'm working in vista, I usually just shutdown JFW in Windows XP. I
do this so the JFW in Windows XP won't intercept as many key sequences.
I still can't use the laptop configuration in vista because I can't get
the caps-lock key to work in combinations with other keys in Vista. You
can use a hot key sequence to jump out of the Virtual PC and back into
your native OS. I'll do this and then use a hot key to reload JAWS in
XP. Obviously, you won't have as many of these problems since there
won't be as many key conflicts between JFW and Orca.

I don't have any interference between the two software speech
synthesizers, although it can be a bit confusing trying to figure out
which voice is coming from which system. Again, you won't have this
problem between JFW and Orca.

Good luck!
