I have not tried it myself, but from what I understand,
angus@infoforceservices, A.K.A. hadens harness attachment, has been able to
use open office at his workplace with jaws, I think there is an
"accessibility" option in one of the menus that needs to be turned on, and
then its supposed to be much friendlier.
but this sounds ok, as long as it has moved away from the lotus requirement
of having to type things, such as functions and grid layout in the spread
sheet manually
thanks,
inthane

Subject: [JAWSLite] IBM Lotus Symphony, a free accessible office suite?
Yesterday I came across IBM Lotus Symphony. This is an office suite
consisting of applications to work on documents, spread sheets and
presentations. It supports the open document format, as well as the MS
Office file formats, and it seems to be free. Even more excitingly, there
may be a chance it's accessible. After playing around with it for a few
minutes, I'm still optimistic that it is accessible. If so, this will give
us another office suite option besides MS Office, and this one is free.
Note that I've tried Open Office, and after a few minutes, I've always
concluded that under Windows and with JFW, it isn't really usable. I've
only played with Symphony for a few minutes. so there may be some show
stoppers out there, and I'm not sure if they're still committed to
accessibility, but it's still under beta so this is our chance to get our
input in there.
I got it from Developer Works at
