I can tell you what a lot of problems with the updates are, and a lot of it
don't have to do with jaws. When you have a new computer Let's take my ACER
laptop for example. Acer installs a lot of there own software that loads at
start up. When I first installed Jaws 9 on the Acer, I had problems with it,
however, after disabling all the Acer software it now works fine. The same
thing happened on Jaws 8 with my Gateway laptop, and the same with my wife's
dell. A lot of times these problems are caused by what the manufactory puts
on the machine and not the software Jaws itself. People like Dell who change
their drivers just slightly so that they are different from others to make you
go back to them are the trouble makers here. For example, Dell monitors used
to be Sony monitors, however, dell renamed the drivers and made a slight change
to them so that they only worked on the dell computers. If you only install
windows on a Dell machine, you will find out that it will install a sony video
driver instead of a dell driver. They do similar things with their video,
sound and others. I believe this is where we are running into a lot of
problems with jaws.

released later today!
On the subject of updates, I used to be one of the first to download new
versions. Perhaps as I get older and see more and more busts in new releases,
I'm less enthusiastic about new releases.
Version 8 seemed to offer nothing of any value over 7.2. Version 9, with
improved Citrix support, looked useful. Then came all the reports of disasters.
I suspect some of those disasters can be linked to FS's attempt to make the
product work with Microsoft's Vista, the king of disasters.
