I have seen people do that, if I'm understanding you correctly.
What I have noticed is that some websites will print the "about us" text
string as just text rather than making it a link, when you are on that page.
It wouldn't be hard at all to do that -- for each link just put in a little
javascript to compare the link text against the current URL and not making
it a link if there is a match.
Is that what you meant?

Subject: [JAWSLite] Do websites need to mark the selected option for blind
users?
Hello,
imagine you have a set of menu options on a website. Usually websites
mark the selected option visually, but not within the code. If you
selected "About us", one could think to mark this option as "About us
(selected)" for the visually impaired if they are on that page.
I have not seen this technique anywhere on the net. Is this something
that is either not necessary or not yet thought of?
Comments welcome. Thank you.
Cheers,
Jens
