Actually, you probably got a better sound chip on that new computer
then you had with the old computer. That is why some of your problems
went away.
The processing chip has no baring on jaws op orations.

Good morning,
An interesting observation.
For the past 3 years I have used JAWS with Windows XP on an Intel
Pentium-M (1.4Ghz) processor with 512MB RAM. Things worked fairly
well, however, I was always frustrated with the lag and jitteriness
of JAWS speech if I was listening to music or streaming radio in the
background. I am not sure if this is a common issue, but can
understand why it could be.
I am now using JAWS on Windows VISTA with a Core Duo (u2500) 1.2Ghz
processor and 2GB RAM. I have noticed that there is no interference
at all from music or other audio tasks with JAWS speech. This is
what I expected might happen when I decided to go with the Duo.
Now, this could be that my new computer has more memory (probably
not). I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this
jitteriness when using JAWS and other audio programs at the same
time and if anyone who has experienced it is using a Duo
processor? If it can be determined that jitteriness is a common
problem and that the Duo processor releives or eliminates the
symptoms then it would be good to suggest to anyone purchasing a new
computer to look into the Duo line of processors.
Thanks,
Everett
