Good morning,
An interesting observation.
For the past 3 years I have used JAWS with Windows XP on an Intel Pentium-M
(1.4Ghz) processor with 512MB RAM. Things worked fairly well, however, I was
always frustrated with the lag and jitteriness of JAWS speech if I was
listening to music or streaming radio in the background. I am not sure if this
is a common issue, but can understand why it could be.
I am now using JAWS on Windows VISTA with a Core Duo (u2500) 1.2Ghz processor
and 2GB RAM. I have noticed that there is no interference at all from music or
other audio tasks with JAWS speech. This is what I expected might happen when
I decided to go with the Duo.
Now, this could be that my new computer has more memory (probably not). I am
wondering if anyone else has experienced this jitteriness when using JAWS and
other audio programs at the same time and if anyone who has experienced it is
using a Duo processor? If it can be determined that jitteriness is a common
problem and that the Duo processor releives or eliminates the symptoms then it
would be good to suggest to anyone purchasing a new computer to look into the
Duo line of processors.
Thanks,
Everett
