Uninformed bad Mouthing?
Conversely, I don't like to hear miss informed post that could cause people
some real spyware issues.
Feel free to use what crap you want but don't tell me that I'm uninformed
unless you can back it up!

I have no idea what you're referring to??? What "proprietary nature"???
It doesn't "take over" your browser; you can still set your preferred
search engine to whatever you want; this just makes it a whole lot
easier to find things on your pc. You've really got to use it to
understand how handy it is when you know you had that information
somewhere ... you just bring up google desktop via insert+f10 and you've
got the interface you're used to from the web google, and you get to
search your files, your web pages, and your email, so you can find that
book you ordered from amazon in a second.
I've got over 300 thousand items (mostly files, e-books) indexed, and I
couldn't hope to manage them all without a nice (and free) indexing
tool.
You may want to use something else, but I really don't like to see
uninformed bad-mouthing of something that can be so useful to others who
want to try it.
