[JAWSLite] Re: AVG and Avast

Avast is comparable to AVG and Norton when it comes to protection and
frequent updates. There are multiple independent sources supporting
this. It's also accessible with JFW.

I moved from Norton to AVG and then to Avast, and Avast would be my
recommendation. I was having access problems with newer versions of
Norton, and when I moved to AVG, not only was it more accessible than
Norton, I found that it also didn't consume nearly as many system
resources. I never moved to AVG version 8, but instead I moved from AVG
7.5 to Avast. I find the free version of Avast has more features and
options. Not only does it include virus protection, it also includes
some other malware protection as well. It also doesn't have some of the
setting limitations that the free version of AVG has.

Note that I'm comparing Avast to AVG 7.5. This is also based on my
limited experience with both products. From my own experience and
everything I've read on mailing lists like this and the web, AVG is
accessible and a comparable anti-virus program. Although I would
encourage people to dump Norton, I would not recommend that someone move
from AVG to Avast. If someone was looking for a new anti-virus program
than I'd recommend Avast.
