I originally had Norton but I had issues with it, so I went with AVG. I hope the older version will still work.

Avg 8 is very speech unfriendly. It is murder uninstalling it. My concern would be would you get the same updates using 7.5 and 8? I'm just wondering if you would really get the most current updates with 7.5 because I imagine that will be the last free version. I used an online computer service which is very speech friendly. It has everything from speeding up your system to 
spyware removal and all the other features you would get with a good
professional version of an antivirus program alone.  It is well worth it.
You can pay yearly or monthly.  To check it out, go to
http://www.stopsign.com. I think you get to try the programs out first but 
it is great for jaws.  I think I'll go back to using the service.

Especially for those who are paying for the package, I would expect that

AVG 7.5 is updating just fine here.  Some people may just be getting
confused about the new version.  I haven't heard anything  about AVG 7.5
not
being supported yet.  I think everyone needs to just relax and see what
happens.
