Doug Lee has written an explanation on the help issue for Jaws versions
older than 7.0 at:

He doesn't intend resolving this because it presents too many other problems
in the later scripts.
 
Your friend might like to try the 642 scripts but I don't know for certain
if this will eliminate the error.

Friend has jaws 6.
 
Downloaded revision 653 for skype 3.8.
 
When compiling scripts, getting error unknown variable gbkeyboard help.
 
Any thoughts, executable installer doesn't work.
 
Has standard keyboard.
