Hi Tom,
When in this volume control, press the alt key and see if a menu comes up, you
may be able to find properties in there with some check boxes.
Regards,
Pete H.

Hi Peter and all,
Sorry for that.
Default recording and playback devices, realtek. Line, cd, swSynth, wave
balance around 50, volume, 100.
Win xp home.
Hardware okay.

Tom,
You haven't told us what you tried in order to achieve this, take a look in
control panel, sounds and audio devices, audio tab and see what you can find
there, you should see recording device properties, if you press the volume
button what do you find there?
Regards,
Pete H.

Have had some suggestions from bcab list on this, including new sound card
or uninstall. Have win xp, realtek high def audio manager. Can't record from
sound card. Advent 4211 and del desktop seem to have same prob, or possibly
I've got the same prob with both. Can, for instance, record from screamer
radio on a non-realtek machine, but, not this lot. Have gone into device
manager and seems device working normally, good one if true.

If I uninstall device drivers,
