Hi Paul,
This is one way of turning off the message centre in realplayer:
1. Open realplayer from the start menu, it should be on the all programs
sub-menu.
2. It might ask you to register, and ask for your email address. You can just
cancel that dialog. A Cancel setup dialog opens, and you can just press exit.
3. In the realplayer main window, open the preferences dialog from the tools
menu.
4. In the category tree view, move to Automatic Services. With this open, then
immediately below should be Autoupdate and Message centre.
Select message centre, and then tab to the configure message centre button, and
press it.
5. A real message centre dialog opens. Tab round this and make sure all the
checkboxes are unchecked, and then press the OK button.
6. Another dialog opens trying to persuade you not to turn off your message
centre. Tab to the Yes button and press it. You are returned to the Preferences
dialog.
7. If you want to turn of automatic updates as well, tab back to the category
tree view, and select AutoUpdate. Then tab to the Automatically download and
install important updates checkbox and uncheck it.
8. Tab to the OK button and press it.
David.
orginal message:
Hi all,
Pleas can anyone help.
Since getting my new PC and having realplayer installed on it, I am now
getting these real message centre announcements coming up which is now
getting ratehr irritating and I don't kno how to stop them from happening.
This message comes up soon afger I switch on my PC and then when I close it
all is OK until I launch the BBC I player and then every ten minutes or so,
the real message centre announcement comes up again.
Tonight, whilst listneing to a live BBC programme, I decided to let it run
but unfortunately it decided to shut my PC down which was most anoying.
Odly enough this doesn't seem to happen when using listen again even though
you are still using the I player.
I have had help off-list and whilst the suggestion of going into the system
tray to get rid of this message altogether was a good idea, it didn't work.
Tomorrow night, I am planning to record another BBC show and as it's an an
extended edition of the show, I don't knoe if part of it will be on listen
again. I am out for the evening but quite honestly, I won't be able to do
it if I can't get rid of this stupid message.
So, if anyone has any idea as to how I can get rid of these stupid updates
once and for all, then pleaed let me know, either through this list or
directly to me.
Any help would be apreciated.
Regards
Paul.
