Hi Colin, Dorothy and all,
Well, let me tell you this. One of the biggest, and probably the most
unfortunate, problems I have experienced is, my teacher having been paid for
two and a half days worth of one-to-one training at the start of this year,
and only being bothered to give me just half a day!
I have tried, however, to contact him several times, but, he seemed to
have disappeared off the face of God's earth!
Hence, my joining this list, and seeming a little, if not a lot, unknowing
regarding many things. I am finding it so refreshing, hearing of so many
people willing to help each other. Keep it up!
Regards,
Angela.

Hi Dorothy and all,
One of the major errors which my computer teachers made was failing to
explain which issues/commands belonged to Jaws, which belonged to Windows
and which belonged to the application programs. It took me years to
unscramble all the task-based muddle.
Cheers
Colin

Dorothy,
I am very sorry you are having so much difficulty. I have often wondered
how some one with no or little computer experience with a visual impairment
could get into using a computer considering all the pit falls, some of which
you mentioned in your email. Before I started having trouble with my
hearing I did a little bit of training of Jaws and I did this for free. I
don't think many people do this unfortunately. I myself was lucky in that
respect.
I know you are very frustrated and I really don't know how to console you.
I should probably start by apologising for asking if English was your first
language. As I read down your emails and the replies it became clear that
your problem was with Jaws in outlook. I have another idea which I will
mention shortly in a following email.
Nigel
It's not what Operating system you use, it's how productive you are with it.
