[jaws-uk] nero problem with cdrs and cdrw

can anyone tell me why I am unable to write to disc I get the following even 
though I have the correct format cd in the cd writer
DVD RW 8XMax: Waiting for Disc
Please insert an empty disc to write to...graphic 219
Disc required for the compilation: CD-R/RW
Disc type in the recorder: (Empty)
Any response may be extremely slow. Please be  Cancelpatient.
