Adrian, the first problem is because word or WordPad or whatever thinks
you're creating a numbered list, in which case the number is not part of the
text, but to the left of the beginning of the line.

Subject: [jaws-uk] help needed
I am hoping that somebody on this list may be able to help me with the
following problem.
When opening any of the following types of files, WordPad, Notepad or
Document, and start writing the text, I get so far down the page, when
strange things start to happen.
Firstly, if I write a number at the start of a line, followed by a word, the
number itself becomes hidden, although Jaws will still announce it if I
curser down line by line. Yet, if I try to curser through the text
character by character, then it doesn't read it, or want to recognise the
number is there at all.
Secondly, when reading a part of the text half way down the page or more,
line by line, it starts to read one line more than once. To over come this
second problem, if I down arrow two or three lines, and then move back to
the line I wish to read, it will read the next few lines normally, until, it
again starts to read the same line of text again.
Do you think these two problems are linked, and if so, how can I rectify the
problem. I have tried maximising the screne, but doesn't seem to work.
It's driving me nuts!!
