Hi Daniel and all,
Obviously everyone is free to do what they see fit with their system. But I
am sorry to disagree with you over the upgrading issue here.

If you know what you are upgrading, what you are looking for and have a
good reason to upgrade, there's no need to put up with, not just an old
peace of software, but a crappy one for that matter. I reckon the vast
majority of people are able to tell the difference between the two words IE8
and IE9 to download and install the latter by error. To put the less
confident computer user mind to rest, rolling back IE installation is not a
big task IMHO.

Believe me, Microsoft didn't release IE8 only a year after IE7 for no good
reason.

IE9 is not compatible with XP and it won't install on Paul's system anyway
so no worries there!

While we're talking IE9 and browsers, I am really looking forward for Jaws
to support IE9 and Firefox 4 too. I am going to upgrade to Windows 7
hopefully soon and one of the very main reasons is to install IE9! I hear
Microsoft after all these years is finally releasing a browser that worth
installing *smile*. Firefox 4 is very neat and speedy browser users are
saying. A real jump from version 3.x. So come on FS, get your acct together
and release that patch we've been promised.

  Cheers,
  Amro

Hi Paul, it's up to you but as I experienced the same problems you have
described in the beginning I wouldn't upgrade if I was you. My reason for
this is that, 1. I said that I was having the same problems as you, this
and
still is I was using IE 8 so Dont think it would work. 2. My 2nd reason
why
I strongly don't advise you to upgrade yet is because I'm not sure but if
you do you might jump from IE7 to IE9 in which case the latter isn't fully
supportive with Jaws until FS brings out a fix for it. Just things to bare
in mind. I would hate you to upgrade and find that you jumped from IE 7 to
9
with out knowing and then experienced problems. However saying all this
you
might just go from IE 7 to 8 with out any problems. In which case by all
  means go ahead!
Good Luck with whatever you decide to do!
  Thanks
  Daniel
