Hi Paul

AVG isn't a trojan detector. You also need something on your computer that
will detect spyware such as Ad-aware, Spyware Blaster, Spyware Guard, or
Spybot. You can get these free from:

Subject: [jaws-uk] avg an virus detection query

Hi all,

Recently, my computer packed up. I lost all sound including JAWS.

It seems that I had inadvertently been switching off my AVG and so it wasn't
checking for viruses when I was on outlook or on the internet.

Fortunately my machine came back a week later with all viruses removed.

I was told by the friend who fixed it that AVGAS would just run in the
background and would not disturb me when switching on.

I am finding this not to be the case.

Over the past week, the AVG message have nearly always come up and also
another message saying Update AVG. I have pressed enter on thisand
presumably it has been updated and Been checking for viruses.

Tonight, I went onto the internet and got a message saying Virus detected.
I think it is something like Trojan Horse.

Is it possible for me to look for this and get rid of it or will I need
sighted assistance.

My friend is now away until a week tomorrow and I don't know who else I can
ask who is really knowledgeable about computers.

Hope someone can helpwith this one.

Also I would be interested in hearing from anyone else who has used or is
using AVG.

Regards

Paul.
