[jaws-uk] Re: ZIP files?

Hi Angela,

Firstly, if the zip file is from someone you know and they are sending
you it intentionally as an attachment, then fine, you should be able to
open it using a programme called Winzip. Depends on what operating
system you have, this might well be installed on your pc.

If it's from an unknown source, be very careful, this can be a classic
method of receiving a virus infection.

Normally, this file is exactly what you thought. A number of small files
perhaps just tidied up into one .zip file.

If you save the .zip file to your hard disk somewhere, then just arrow
to it in windows explorer, once on the file, open your file menu and you
should get options on how to open and retrieve the files it contains.

Hth, Robin.

Subject: [jaws-uk] ZIP files?

  Hi,
Someone has sent me a ZIP file, I'm guessing because the file itself
is very large, and has been compressed?
Could someone please explain to me what a ZIP file actually is, and
how I can access it?
  Thank you, Angela.
