Hi Barbara,
Basically you will need to put in your internet settings into the router.  I'm 
afraid I don't know the model you have so can't talk you through this but there 
will be a method for you to access the configuration of the router either by 
the software you get with some of these units or via a web interface.  Once you 
have done this it should be active.

The thing you need to remember is that with a router, the internet service 
providers information is stored on the router and not on the pc.
