Hi I have only just spotted this as OE expand and collapse is playing up So Andrew was right in principle but you do not type omitting quotes Sounds and Audio devices but exactly what you write is it all one word lowercase then does the Vol for Volume rise from dead, are you sure this fixes Mute? not just raises the Volume? Thanks very much I am hoping the information I sent to Kevin off list will enable him to contact James Watt of Toshiba directly and kind helpful treatment since his special interest is Vips, the hard part was locating him in the first place and avoiding being routed around the Globe.

this way is easier.1. in windows XP, hit windows r, and punch sndvol32 in to your run dialogue.2. hit tab twice once in the playback control and press spacebar to unmute your volume. if tab twice doesn't work you have to experiment.hth, orhan. So I just unplug them from the USB 2.0 port and usually sound returns to the computer. If it doesn't, I can do this: Press the Windows key to bring up the start menu then Type the letter "c" twice to probably reach Control Panel and press enter. Then wait a couple of seconds and press the "s" key four times to reach Sounds and Audio and press enter. Then press control tab twice to get to the audio tab. Then press tab once to reach the volume button and press it by using the spacebar. Then press tab once more to reach the volume setting and press page up a few times to increase it by around 20% each time. If all has gone well, this will restore sound to my PC. Then press alt F4 to get out of the volume setting and press shift plus control plus tab to get to the sound schemes tab and see what crazy sound scheme is presently selected. It should be the one for my Logitech headphones but at least a couple of times has been no sounds! After selecting the correct sound scheme, I save it if sound is working correctly, exit the sounds and audio manager with alt plus F4 and see how long the changes last this time. At least once I found repeatedly pressing page up on the volume setting of the audio tab would only let me raise sound to 16%. No idea why but selecting a sound scheme other than no sound seemed to solve this problem. The Logitech Tech Support people tell me they've never heard of the problems I am having with headset volume spontaneously being cranked up to a deafening 100% or dropping a lot or being set to 0. Really strange. Will phone them when I have some time to spend on the phone and demand they open a support ticket. Sometimes you have to do that sort of thing. No idea why first tier tech support doesn't realize they're out of their depth and escalate the matter to the second tier, but they don't. Brian Brian K.
