[jaws-uk] Re: Using the dictionary

Yes, I guess that is exactly the sort of thing the Dictionary Manager was
designed for.

Another good example is to blank out long strings of text which is tedious
at least to listen to. e.g. http://www. If you put that in the first field
and a space in the second you will not get all that spoken out.

There are lots of good things you can do with the Dictionary Manager. If
you want to change things globally in your system then you can bring up the
default file by pressing ctrl shift D when you land on the Add button and
then just carry on as normal.

Best of luck.

David

Hi,

Go into the application you want to change. Press Insert D for the
Dictionary Manager. On the Add button press enter. You will now find
yourself in the first of two fields.

In the first field press the GreaterThan key (shift period) and then tab to
the next field. Now press the spacebar once. Tab to the Ok button,
activate this and save the changes.

You have now effectively told Jaws to treat the GreaterThan character as a
space and it should say nothing. You don't actually get rid of the
character.

David
