I am trying to identify anyone who totally relies on JAWS to access a
windows environment who has experience of using Microsoft's Excel VBA
development environment to develop Excel macros without relying on the
record function. i.e. Writing the Visual Basic code from scratch.
I am working with a Visually Impaired person who has such a goal and whilst
I am expert in using the Visual Basic for Application, I have limited
exposure to using JAWS as the user interface to the environment, and I can
keen to learn from the experience of others.
At this stage, I have the following immediate questions:
a) Has anyone developed any JAWS scripts to work with the Microsoft VBA IDE?
In particular, achieved a simple keystroke sequence to move/navigate the
local variables window. [Microsoft do not have a shortcut to get to this
window with the standard environment, other than Alt-V and S]
b) How was the code structured in terms of procedures/comment blocks to help
follow the macro logic? My assumption is some form of pseudo code is
required to supplement the raw Visual Basic code so that the developer can
quickly narrow down the section of code. Does someone has a sample of
"excellence" they could post?
c) Do I need a full JAWS licence in order to develop JAWS scripts? If not,
what are the requirements.
I am a volunteer with a UK charity working with VIPs and I am attempting to
assist someone who wants to be able to develop their own macros, which are
NOT just recordings of individual Excel actions; i.e. there needs some
additional logic applied based on spreadsheet contents.
