You have not managed to add me I don't think. There are skype scripts for JAWS that you can just install. It would be useful to know which version of skype you have so that the correct version of the scripts can be installed. In Skype go to the help menu with alt h and arrow up to About. In some versions of skype this box can be hard to read. The other alternative is to download the latest version of Skype from www.skype .com Install the jaws scripts that Peter also suggested in his Email. I can get to a page which says add contact, press spacebar to activate. When I do that, though, I'm landed on a silent page, where JAWS says nothing. I have your skype name on my clipboard, and have prob' added you about 4 times now; don't know though. Will check the extended keyboard navigation again. Thanks, both. Much appreciated. The most likely reason for your skype looking different is that you have a different skype version. I'm now signed in, with an account created. My tools menu doesn't have options, other than Connection Options, but it does have Accessability, so I chose that and found only two options, of which one is Screen Reader mode, which was checked already. So, now I'm in, and it made a funny noise to prove it, but I don't know what to do next. Maybe I'll add your name and see if that results in us being able to speak to each other? I'm having trouble navigating, so far; it seems less than eager to speak the page fluenly for me. I'm finding it v hard to figure out what I'm actually looking at... Aaaagh; beyond frustrating, but so nearly there. Thanks as always for your very fast and kind help. U R A *!!! First you need to sign up for skype. Have you got that far? If not it's free. Go to www.skype.com and do it. You can also download skype from the same website. Next, skype is quite cluttered. I think, hot keys are disabled by default. When enabled, This should allow you to press alt page up when a call comes in to answer it and alt page down to hang up. The hot keys can be reached through the menus. Press alt t to get to the tools menu and arrow up once to get to options. Once here you will be in a tree of options. You need to arrow down until you get to an option called hot keys. On my system I had to arrow down about 19 times. When you reach this press tab. You will hear an option called enable keyboard shortcuts. This needs to be checked so press space bar to check it if necessary. Then shift tab to go backwards through the hot key options past cancel until you get to save and press enter. My skype contact is at the bottom of this email. Free free to add me if you need further help. To add a contact press alt c to get to the contacts menu The first option is add contact so press enter at that point. Fill in all the information you know about the contact and a list should appear of matching contacts. I hope this is of help. I've never used it; am looking up the 'getting started' info now, but can anyone tell me anything about it, with reference to JAWS 10, please? I've been putting it off for ages and ages, but now suddenly need to get it sorted within the next hour, if possible. TIA all.
