[jaws-uk] Re: Update Problem

Hi Joan and all,
 
The key word here is update, as opposed to upgrade. Updates are free
additions or enhancements to a main release version, while upgrades are
new full versions wwhich, to be fair, are generally well labelled to
tell you they will use up part of your SMA digits.
 
Joan, when you clik the option to check for updates, try using the jaws
curser because it might have found your update and it's waiting on you
pressing the space bar to select it.
 
Mine took a good five minutes, downloaded the update, got the clicking
sound to keep me aware it was still installing, then the prompt to
reboot the system, all tickety boo.

        I have a feeling that there is a firewall somewhere blocking
this but I can't find the details of how to allow Jaws to be updated.

                After reading your message I checked for updates and
found that there was a new one, version 8.0.2173, so I installed it and
it came down ok, so it could be that FS were changing things over at the
time you tried, so I recommend you try again.

for updates, and then nothing. I leave it there till I shut down the
