Hi, George,

Thanks very much. Well, at least I don't have to worry about the stupid problem.

Yes, I knew the difference ok but someone said they had a similar problem and
it resulted from an old virus.

Thanks again.

Best wishes,

Joan.

  Hi Joan,

Following up on my earlier reply, McAfee checks for viruses, Spybot checks
for malicious spyware. Subtle difference, and of course both products are
essential these days.

  George.

    Hi, Tom and Darran,

    Thanks for responding.

Well, according to my arrowing around it only says that thing about Exploit
so I assumed that was the offending file or series of files or whatever.

This is a fairly new machine and I have McAfee installed. It has never
found a virus though of course there could have been one I suppose.

I suppose I'll just have to leave them happily there.

    Best wishes,

    Joan.

      Hi Joan,

Can you get any inf on the names of the problems it finds?

Try jaws key plus B to read dialogue or root jaws to the window and up
and down num pad arrows.

I had the same cycle as you with 5 problems unfixable. In my case it
referred to altNet an old virus.

Let us know what you get.

      Tom

        Hi, Folks,

        Have now got Spybot installed.

However, each time I run it, I am told there are five problems, DSO
Exploit.

Then I use alt F to tell it to fix the problems and enter on the yes
button. Then it says, confirmation, ok button so I enter again and it says, 5
problems found DSO Exploit.

We could go round in this circle indefinitely but it never does fix
these five problems. At least each time I try it again no more problems appear
to be found.

What am I supposed to do to get them eradicated?

        Best wishes,

        Joan.
