BSOD? Sorry, chaps, but this sounds most rude! Assuming it isn't; what does it mean?

Amie

Hallo Robin, may I ask if you mean by CpU the central Processor? I am trying to understand these terms, only a few days ago did I realise BSOD means what you know it to be of course, so how can you tell if it is working flat out? Is that Belark? or MsInfo 32? Incidentally read Georges the other day. I once listened on audio tape to BT's terms and conditions, and only the first point of entry into your home is guaranteed not other points, and then only for 1 year, this is because they said copper wiring may degrade with in the home in that time .so boring listening to terms and conditions but worth it

Hi Darran,

As far as I'm aware, your CPU percentages are fine. If they rose way up
towards 95% or more then I'd be concerned. In saying that, I have this
Outlook running, IE7 open, and an online phone console and my usage is at
100%, but everything is still functioning Ok.

Sorry can't help with any other suggestions, apart from re seating the S
card.

Any chance you can get a hold of other speakers to try them?

Robin

Thanks folks for all the suggestions.

My CPU seems to vary between 65 to 85% - not sure if this is good or bad
-
and all my cables etc do seem to be properly connected. I haven't
however
been able to get a look at the soundcard.

There doesn't appear to bee any strange or suspect programs that have
attached themselves to start-up either.

Someone wondered whether it was just happening with JAWS or also with
Windows sounds, and the answer is yes. The Windows sounds are also
effected
in the same way.

It seems to have been behaving itself pretty well over the last couple
of
days, but I'm now expecting this odd sound problem to raise its head at
any
time.

Thanks again for the help.

Darran

| As well as Robin's suggestion, have you tried reseating the
| cables between PC and speakers or headphones?
|
| You might even try reseating the soundcard in your system.
|
| Sometimes contacts start breaking down over time, and
| reseating often solves the problem.

|
| Hi List.
|
| Over the last week or so I've noticed that JAWS has started
| acting poorly,
| only the speech however, nothing else appears to be
| effected. Its the same
| for versions 7.1, 8.0 and the latest release. And over all
| aspects of XP, no
| matter the program etc.
|
| The best way to describe the sound is for you to imagine you
| where sitting
| on a bicycle and trying to talk as you are descending a
| flight of steps. Its
| jerky at best, as though JAWS didn't have enough juice to
| see the thing out!
| But, it doesn't happen all the time, some days when I turn
| on the PC,
| everything's absolutely fine.
|
| Nothing has changed with my systems setup and I'm at a loss
| as to what's
| going on. Does anyone have any ideas as to what might be the
| cause of this
| flaky speech?
|
| Regards.
|
| Darran
