[jaws-uk] Some off topic, Home network queries.

Hi all,

Hope the Festive spirit allows me to ask for some help in problems not
totally linked to jfw.

I've taken possession of a pc for a charity I work with and trying to hook
it up to my BT Home Hub network. The 2 machines at home are both XP Pro,
with Jaws 8 Pro, while this new machine is XP Home and running an older
queller version of jfw, 5.1 Standard.

Before I plan upgrading to jfw 8 for the charity's version, can anyone help
with the following questions? Off list may be advisable I guess too.

1: Is 5.1 able to run on an XP Home system?

2: Will an XP home pc be able to join a network with XP Pro machines? I know
older systems can't.

3: Definitely not jaws related, but the Windows firewall keeps turning
itself on even though I have indicated I have my own firewall built into the
BT hubwhich I monitor, and in the advanced tab of the windows firewall, it
keeps jumping to LAN when I'm trying to make sure it joins the Wireless
setup I have. When I alter these settings to the ones I want, I join the
network Ok, and go online too, but when I open Outlook, or for some reason,
within ten minutes, I'm kicked off line, and those firewall settings have
changed themselves again and thrown me off the network too.

If this rings any bells with some of you tech minded guys, I'd love to hear
from you.

Best to all for 2007!

Kind regards,
