[jaws-uk] Re: Skype 3.2 and knowing who's calling

Skype watch enables you to know who signs in and out of skype and also announces the skype status. I find that it often doesn't say who signs in and out and definitely doesn't tells who's calling. If you've used the executable of skype scripts on the end of the installation you should have been asked if you want to recompiled certain files, the default options was checked as to do so, if you did this skype watched should have been configured.
You can unzip Audio ID file anywhere you want, the zip file contains only 1 file, which is an .exe file, once you launch the file it'll launch audio ID, as long as you check the option so audio ID can automatically start on startup you won't need to do anything any more. HTH.

If you get the latest version of the skype scritps for jaws and enable skype watch and the system gtray alerts, jaws should give you the desired information. However, with the llatest skype scripts, enabling skypewatch has become involved to a degree that I personally shy away from.
you can alternatively use a third-party utility such as skread or if you only want caller id, there isanohter free utility whose sole purpose is to give caller id for skype. It is called "audio ID for skype and is available from

It uses whatever sapi 5 voices are installed on your system.

I have only today updated to skype 3.2, but it seems that now it's impossible to find out with jaws who's calling when skype rings as skype doesn't any more automaticly pop up the window when someone calls. I looked in the options in notifications, it only has two options: when someone calls "show windows tray area" or "show skype call alert". Neither of those options though make the window pop up when skype rings like in previous version. This is very annoying, as I like to have an option of knowing who calls me and therefore have an option of answering the call or letting it go through the voicemail or rejecting it. So, is there any way to know who's calling in skype 3.2. Thanks.
