[jaws-uk] Re: Skype 3.2 and knowing who's calling

Further to my earlier message I have now installed audio ID for skype. It works fine, although it's interface when wanting to configure it is quite inaccessible. You can just about get by it by using the jaws cursor. The only thing I had to change from the default settings is to enable it to run up at startup as by default this is unchecked, you simply find this checkbox with jaws cursor and left click it. This is definitely a nice thing considering the changes skype has implemented that makes it a lot less accessible in some ways.

I got the latest scripts and I have enabled skype watch, but for whatever reason jaws still doesn't announce who's calling, however this caller ID thing might be very useful. Thanks for that.

If you get the latest version of the skype scritps for jaws and enable skype watch and the system gtray alerts, jaws should give you the desired information. However, with the llatest skype scripts, enabling skypewatch has become involved to a degree that I personally shy away from.

you can alternatively use a third-party utility such as skread or if you only want caller id, there isanohter free utility whose sole purpose is to give caller id for skype. It is called "audio ID for skype and is available from

http://www.nhandz.com/audioid.htm

It uses whatever sapi 5 voices are installed on your system.

Hi,
I have only today updated to skype 3.2, but it seems that now it's impossible to find out with jaws who's calling when skype rings as skype doesn't any more automaticly pop up the window when someone calls. I looked in the options in notifications, it only has two options: when someone calls "show windows tray area" or "show skype call alert". Neither of those options though make the window pop up when skype rings like in previous version. This is very annoying, as I like to have an option of knowing who calls me and therefore have an option of answering the call or letting it go through the voicemail or rejecting it. So, is there any way to know who's calling in skype 3.2. Thanks.
