Hi Tiddy,

Did you say you couldn't find the check to stop this in outlook express?

Chris I mean windos messenger. Damn thing appears everytime I start OE and even when I close it, it says it's still running in the background. It'll take a while to find the CD if that's the only to kill it, and I'm a bit dubious about hacking the .exe file, assuming I can find it.

Hi there Tiddy,

William, I've checked all the boxes I can find... but can't find one that prevents it from starting... and it is still there!
It started annoying me again, (I got rid of it once before,) when signing up to a MSN mail list.

Hi Chris, suppose the next best thing is just don't allow it to start?
A checkbox in the messenger itself and another in outlook express. I
always use mine just when I want to. William

Hi there Folks, when your in add remove programs you have to insert your windows cd in the drive and then press alt W, in this list you'll find windows messenger so you can remove it, it's a windows installed program so you have to look for the windows setup to take it out of there, I haven't done it because it's a piece of windows xp software and comes installed in the system Regards

Hi, don't see anything in add remove for Windows Messenger, but the

C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe
Note that some of the characters are uppercase! Wonder if the file
was
deleted is this enough to get rid of the messenger? William

For some reason this infernal thing has appeared and I can find no
way
of
getting rid of it. How do you uninstall it or otherwise emasculate
it,
please?
