thank you Steve, yes that is good advice, I had to do a system restore more than once, also I understand the fact I am being told certain key strokes are of no use, I have not gone ahead and let them be removed,as you say, what harm are they doing anyway. Dorothy,

I'm afraid I don't know any of the registry utilities. I tend not to
change the registry unless I have no option or if I have been directed
to making a specific change for a specific reason. Then I edit it
manually, back it up first, export the branches I intend to adjust, and
only touch entries I am confident about. And I can do all these things
in RegEdit. You mention a friend used it and the result was not to your
liking - if anyone adjusts your registry using any method, please make
sure they back the whole lot up first, so that you can return to the
"before" state if you want to.

I know this isn't directly answering your question, the answer to which
is "no, I don't know RegScrub". But on a general note, be wary of
deleting registry keys which you are told are "not of any use" because
if that advice is wrong, it's you who's going to pay! And even if it is
correct, that doesn't mean they are doing any harm.

Steve

hallo again Steve, I had an off list message from Brian lingard, who
suggests that REGSCRUB which is a download and Edit Reg which is windows
are
one and the same, now I wouldnot use EditReg myself since a visitor
once
tried EditReg to remove imbedded Freeserve and, the after effect was
not
good. However surely REGSCRUB is not identical, I know a few who run it

often, is it OK? I must say the number of faults it says it has found
makes me a bit wary, it tells me a lot of keys are not of any use.do
you
know this product at all? thanks Dorothy
