Keith,

Window Eyes, like JAWS, has a set of keystrokes for reading tables. I
think with Windows Eyes and HTML tables these keystrokes are not valid
until, with focus on the table, you go into table mode and I wonder if
this is what your friend means by saying Window Eyes can turn an HTML
table into an actual table. With JAWS, there is no special table mode;
the JAWS keystrokes for tables are valid as soon as you enter the table.

Dear Robert,

Many thanks for your very helpful reply.

My question about turning HTML text tables into actual tables was
prompted
following a chat with a friend who has Window Eyes, who says he has a
facility to do that.

Thanks again.

With best wishes,

Keith

Dear Keith and Ron,

The Jaws hot key to turn tables to text in Word used to be Insert + F5.
I think it was removed with Jaws 6 and replaced by"list fields".

You can still turn tables to text in Word but no longer with a single
key stroke. Place the insertion pointer in the table you want to
convert and then go to "convert" in the Tables menu where you can
examine all the alternative ways of doing it. I have created a Word
macro to do this since I find it a very useful feature.

By the way, I don't think there is an equivalent for HTML tables but I
could be wrong.

Best wishes

Robert

Dear Ron,

For the life of me I can't remember, and can't find it anywhere. I know
it used to be there, as I've used it. Hope someone else can help you.

With best wishes,

Keith
