[jaws-uk] Re: Please check out a website?

John, are you using IE8? If so, if you add the site to compatibility view in
the tools menu it works fine, at least it does for me.

Hi. I feel it is legitimate, and helpful, when someone points out that
another screenreader is able to cope with a page that JAWS can't handle.

I encountered the problem Robin describes when clicking on the Ice Grips link
with JAWS 12 build 522. Not only that, but I was then unable to display the
original page by clicking the Back button. Even exiting and re-running JAWS
didn't help. The only way to restore normal operation was to close and re-open
Internet Explorer.

This appears to be a specific example of a much more general problem with
JAWS which happens pretty regularly for me. Basically, in certain situations,
the virtual buffer becomes empty, even though exploration with the JAWS cursor
confirms that the page is in fact being displayed. Neither the JAWS refresh nor
the Internet Explorer refresh will restore the situation, and I have to re-run
IE.

I really do wish that the next JAWS release would concentrate solely on
stability improvements and bug fixes.

  Cheers.

  John

You can read the page with NVDA.

    Hi Robin,

I got similar results except that Jaws doesn't hang up altogether. If you
try to use the normal cursor it sounds like there's nothing working but if you
go into Jaws cursor, it can still read the page information, albeit in a very
mixed up way.

It's as if there's some kind of graphical representation of the page -
maybe Flash or something like that - not sure.

Sorry I can't help any more than that.

    Jamie

    Hi,

Using JFW 12.0.512, latest build I think.... with IE8 I am having trouble
with the following website. The home page opens with one heading and 45 links
but when I try to click on the link for ice grips, the page just hangs.

Tried it on my laptop also with same problem. Wondered if this is a jaws
and IE thingie....
