I have a ds30 and it's software.  As I have a windows xp operating system I saw 
no point in installing the software which came with it.  Are there any 
advantages to it's installation?  I began to install it, and the first thing it 
asked me was to put in a cereal number.  I had no sighted assistance and didn't 
know where it was.  I have since used the recorder without installing the 
software.
