forgive me for what might be a stuipid question, but will this maxuimize automatically when switching between windows?

Barbara,

I know you have been given the answer to this question but I feel it
worthwhile mentioning that you can also go into the application properties, the Shortcut page, and you will find an item in there called "Run" where you can select "Maximise". If you Ok on this the application will be maximised 
automatically.

You can get to the application properties by going to the item or program
and press Alt Enter before opening it.

Hi Barbara,

I think what you are looking for is to press the alt key and space bar
together and then cursor down to maximise and then press enter.

That's the shortest keystroke I can think of for the action you need to
perform, maybe someone else will come up with a shorter method.
