Hi,
Make sure that the Jaws focus is on MSN when you do Insert V. The following
is from the Jaws 7.0 help files; hope it helps.
"MSN Messenger Verbosity Options
Press INSERT+V while in MSN Messenger to access the following verbosity
options. Use the arrow keys to select the option you want to change and then
press
the SPACEBAR to cycle through the available choices.
Verbosity Item
Description
Typing Sounder
Select "Enabled" if you want a typing sound to play whenever the person you
are exchanging messages with is typing.
Typing Announcement
Select "Enabled" if you want JAWS to announce the name of the contact
currently typing a message.
Speak Contacts Name with Message
Select "Enabled" if you want JAWS to announce the name of a contact when he
or she sends a message.
Automatically Speak Incoming Messages
Select "Enabled" if you want JAWS to automatically start reading messages
that you receive.
Announce Contacts Signing In
Select "Enabled" if you want JAWS to automatically announce the names of any
contacts that sign in."
Cheers,
Amro

Hi,
I do insert v and can't find anything about speaking contact name - in
fact there don't seem to be any options in there specific to Messenger at
all. When I do insert q it says Windows Messenger scripts are loaded.
Any ideas?
Catherine

Hi, do insert V and check all the options in there are set how you want
them. Speak contact name before the message, or something like that, is
one of the many verbosity choices.
Cheers
Dave

Hi,
Using JAWS 7.0, Windows Messenger 4.7. In conversations JAWS has
stopped saying "so and so says" before announcing the message. It used
to do this fine. Not a huge problem but irritating - has anyone any
idea why JAWS has stopped announcing this and what can I try to fix it?
Catherine
