Could you edit the text using Notepad, Word etc to remove the 3 dot parts, =
then Jaws wouldn't have a problem.

Cheers

Hi Erica, surely if I put break or section in the relevant edit box, JAWS=20
will say break or section when the text occurs?

In fact, I've just tried it and that is indeed what happens.

Have I misunderstood your directions?

| Well when people write those in books etc I open the default dictionary, =
=3D
| then
| add the periods as period space period space period. In the replacement =
=3D
| box,
| I put period period period without spaces. This makes it sound like it =3D
| is
| trailing off. However, what you could put in there is the word break or
| section. This should work.

|
| Hi List.
|
| I've been messing about with the default dictionary in version 8 to try =
=3D
| and=3D20
| find a way to stop JAWS from announcing the following;
|
| period period period
|
| I receive a couple of newsletters in which the author always breaks up=3D=
20
| sentences by inserting three periods broken by a space, so its period =3D
| space=3D20
| period space period.
|
| I can't find any way of telling JAWS to ignore these three spaced =3D
| periods=3D20
| and just move on to the next piece of text. I've tried entering the =3D
| exact=3D20
| text into the dictionary and telling JAWS to treat it as a space, but =3D
| this=3D20
| just doesn't work. It does stop it from announcing three periods, now =3D
| its=3D20
| only two I hear!
|
| Can anyone suggest a method that might achieve what I'm after?
|
| Regards.
|
